Supporters of the Facebook pages - Saving Private Rhino and Outraged SA Citizens against Poaching rallied some of their online supporters who oppose rhino and elephant poaching to make their feeling felt and attend the bail application on the two Chinese men who were arrested for possession of elephant tusks and various other horns in Tableview in December 2011. Searl Derman, from Saving Private Rhino was instrumental in getting the Hawks to the premises in order to apprehend the suspects.

Xing Xieny, 51, and Xiong Changsen, 41, were arrested for illegal possession of ivory in Table View outside Cape Town. The lawyer representing two Chinese men arrested for ivory possession said his clients have been living in South Africa for more than five years.

The duo appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court but their case was moved to the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court where they applyied for bail on 10 January.

One of the accused was released on R70 000 bail the second accused was held over till the 18th for his bail hearing.... the troops will be there on the 18th again to make a stand.
