Aquila Creates Big Five Reserve

The 4-star Aquila Private Game Reserve has relocated two bull elephants at a total cost of R2 million, in order to grow the reserve from Big 4 to Big 5 territory, therefore making Aquila the closest authentic Big 5 safari to Cape Town.

She may not be classified as one of Africa’s Big Five, but formidable former British prime minister, Baroness Margaret Thatcher, certainly provided a rare and exciting sighting this week, for the day and overnight visitors who went on safari outside Cape Town.

First Rhino Born at Aquila

27 February 2005 saw the first rhino born at the 4-star Aquila Private Game Reserve situated a mere 90 minutes drive on the N1 National Road from Cape Town. The expected time of the birth was around lunch time and the calf is in good health. Due to its mother’s protection; the sex or weight is not yet known.

Baby Hippo Born at Aquila

A hippo calf weighing around 30 kilograms and approximately 100 centimetres in length was born at the Big 5, 4-star Aquila Private Game Reserve near Cape Town yesterday.
